01 Do documents or detected content leave my machine? +
No. In Datenmaske Secure, PDF processing, OCR, detection, review, and redaction run locally on the workstation. An internet connection may be needed for license checks and the optional model download; document content is not transmitted in the process.
02 What's the difference between Secure and Web? +
Secure is the local desktop edition for confidential files and professional secrets. Datenmaske Web is the EU-hosted self-service for vetted use cases, collaboration, and API workflows. The free web demo is a good way to learn the workflow — not for content that must stay local.
03 Is the redaction really permanent? +
Confirmed passages are removed from the PDF content with MuPDF, not just covered. The output file is then reopened and checked. If this verification fails, Secure refuses the export.
04 Who is Datenmaske Secure for? +
Primarily for lawyers, notaries, tax advisors, auditors, doctors, psychotherapists, and their teams. Secure is especially suited to voluminous files, recurring individuals, and workstations where documents must not leave the device.
