How does Datenmaske help with deletion under DSGVO Art. 17?
When applicants or former employees request the deletion of their data, Datenmaske supports the implementation of Art. 17 requests by anonymising remaining documents — Datenmaske detects and redacts personal data irreversibly in all PDF documents, faster than manual processing. Note: The actual deletion of the original data records (e.g. in HR software, in the email inbox or in application systems) remains the responsibility of the controller and is not replaced by redaction in PDF documents.
Which data types does Datenmaske detect automatically?
Datenmaske automatically detects names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, IBANs, social security numbers, dates of birth and other personal data. Detection is carried out using a combined process of regular expressions and AI-based Named Entity Recognition.
May redacted personnel files be retained?
Yes. After the irreversible redaction of personal data, the document no longer contains personal data within the meaning of the DSGVO. The remaining information may be retained within the framework of the statutory retention periods.
How long does the redaction of a document take?
A typical 20-page PDF is analysed in a few minutes and provided with redaction suggestions. You review the suggestions and export the redacted document. Compared with manual redaction, Datenmaske is ready to use in minutes rather than hours.
Are the documents processed securely?
Datenmaske supports DSGVO-compliant processes with TLS transmission, primary hosting in Germany, AVV and configurable deletion. OCR and an optional NER fallback stage use Azure in configured EU regions. The result must be reviewed before sharing.
